Here is a US M3 fighting knife made by CASE. This is an early 1943 blade marked M3. The M6 scabbard is made by MILSCO and also dated 1943. This is a boot carried example as the lower metal plate on the scabbard is formed around the outline of the M3 blade in the scabbard. A nice example obtained in west central Illinois. Often times on these scabbards we see the grip snap strap has been moved down about 1",however on this scabbard that is not the case.
This is an example of a WWII German "Luftwaffe Machete" the term is at times really mis-used as some of the weapons were indeed issued to the police not just the Luftwaffe. This machette is an example of a WWII German Police issued item. Note the police inspection stamps on the scabbard runners. These machetes exist in very low numbers and very few survive in todays collector market. Collectors may also encounter a sawback variant of this weapon. Most machettes found will have the Alcoso trademark on the ricasso, some have been reported with no maker maker. Some crossguards have been reported made of steel and the police marked machettes(eagle B marked) to date have had a brass crossguards. Below you will see two extra photos, they show the ricasso with the police eagle B mark and one side of the scabbard runners which show the acceptance stamp WaA883, each scabbard runner is marked the same.
